About this artwork
This artwork presents a textured surface, rendered in a predominantly turquoise, blues, over deeper purples with hints of pinks and lime green peaking through. The texture itself is refined while invoking a tactile quality that begs for closer examination.
The word "MEDITATE" is very subtly integrated into the composition, with the letter 'i' standing out in WHITE in the centre of the artwork. The 'i' is most certainly referencing the personal… and could even represent an individual or person.
This balance between text and texture speaks to the intersection of form and concept; the textured background evokes a sense of the chaotic or the myriad thoughts one might experience, while the centered text suggests the clarity and peace found through meditation.

« I paint numbers! Painting and numbers can define us in significant ways. Paintings evoke emotion, but as in life, one can feel like just a number. »
Cliff Kearns is an experienced artist from Canada whose paintings have been featured in solo exhibitions internationally. With an early background in design and illustration, Kearns began to focus on more personal self expression since 2000. These fine art paintings have evolved from daily reflections and meditations on Life, and our place in it. In the quest to reveal a true self, every series also incorporates numbers. More and less obvious in each series of artworks, this sequential numbering becomes the common denominator which holds the body of works together. The numbers act as a background counting mechanism as Cliff attempts to get closer to his truth.
