About this artwork
The artwork "White Heat" depicts a white beach under a near-night sky, with a solitary parasol on the left and the shadow of a palm tree, suggesting a sunset behind it. On the right, in the background, an atoll is discreetly visible, with a beach hut (faré). In the center, also in the background, a flock of birds and a small atoll can be discerned. The strong contrast between light and dark, the minimalism, and the asymmetrical composition create… an atmosphere of solitude, calm, and meditation. The painting uses oil paint with smooth, flat washes, meticulous gradations in the sky, and a palette dominated by white, midnight blue, and a luminous turquoise. The work is in a contemporary style blending minimalism and poetic realism. The tactile sensation suggested is that of a smooth, cool surface contrasting with the natural texture of the parasol. Light and shadow are used to enhance depth and emotion, with a dramatic chiaroscuro effect.
A self-taught artist, "Vahinee" has over 30 years of creative experience. His paintings often reflect the impressions and memories of his many travels (Seychelles, Polynesia, West Indies, Bahamas, Maldives, Africa, United States, Asia,...), as illustrated by the Galleries "The Blues... The Sea... Water..." or "The Yellows... The Reds... Africa". But "Vahinee" also knows how to transcribe her dreams, her visions, even her premonitions, as is the case with the painting "Tsunami" (2003), surprisingly painted well before the Indonesian tsunami (December 2004); this is the subject of the Gallery "Dreams... Fantasies... First Drawings..."
"Vahinee" exhibited whenever her length of stay in one place allowed it (more than twenty moves...);
