About this artwork
A281 is a painting of extraordinary restraint. Silver-grey and pearl dominate; occasional passages of the particular blue that appears when sky reflects in wet concrete provide the only color temperature variation.
The concrete aggregate gives the surface a physical mass that contradicts the lightness of the palette — this is not a pale painting but a dense one, a painting of genuine weight holding itself very quietly. No single focal point, no… hierarchy — the all-over composition asks the eye to move without urgency, finding different passages at different hours. In morning light it reads cold. By evening it warms. At night it disappears into the wall and emerges again at dawn.
This belongs to someone who wins — not loudly, but completely.
If you are considering this work, I am happy to speak with you directly — about the painting, the space, or simply the work.
