About this artwork
This painting is a synthesis of Paul Cezanne's (1839-1906) pictorial philosophy, in which three spatial shapes—cylinder, cone, and sphere—played a key role. This scheme depicts two mountains and the sun. However, the color scheme of this landscape is a synthesis of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner's (1880-1938) expressive hues. In this way, the Swiss Alps become a pretext for charting a path connecting these two artists. It is also a bridge between generations…
