About this artwork
Each toy is a unique memory keeper. Taking them out once a year and unwrapping the newspaper brings a gentle wave of nostalgia. We recall where and when each was bought—or maybe it came from a parent or grandmother. Each holds a moment, a year, a feeling. The Christmas tree is dressed not only in festive tinsel, but in memories.
And when a favorite ornament breaks? Its beauty is gone, but it lingers in conversations and shared stories. Does that… dull our sense of wonder?
Are we afraid it might chase away the luck we hope for in the new year? That the toy from childhood, with its cracked paint and familiar charm, won’t greet us again with a silent “Happy New Year, buddy”?
Time moves on. The first of January always comes. Traditions may change, but the essence of the holiday—what we truly feel—remains.
I am a Ukrainian artist, holding a bachelor's degree in Cultural Events Directing from Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts. Furthering my passion for art, I pursued Contemporary Art at the Kyiv Academy of Media Arts. Since 2013, art has been my full-time dedication. I am portraying the delicate harmony between terrestrial flora and the enigmatic depths of aquatic fauna. My work goes beyond the surface, exploring the subconscious and the intertwined connection between humanity and nature. Deeply personal, my art is a reflection of my own life experiences, shaping the narratives and emotions embedded in work. This personal influence adds layers of depth, making each piece a unique exploration of my evolving identity.
