About this artwork
Horizon 80 × 120
Acrylic on canvas, 80 × 120 cm
This work from the Horizons series explores the moment when a person begins to hear their own inner voice. Not external noise, not society’s expectations, but the quiet inner voice that has always been there.
The composition is built on the contrast between large swaths of colour and thin, almost fragile lines. A deep, dark-sea-blue, almost black block symbolises a person’s inner world—a space of fears,… doubts, and hidden feelings. It is that part of us where we often hide our true thoughts and desires.
Gray and muted shades become a transitional state—a moment of realisation. This is the point where a person begins to notice their own boundaries and understand that many of them exist only within.
The soft beige and light areas in the work reveal another state—a space of clarity and self-confidence. They resemble dawn or the horizon, where faith in one’s own abilities and a sense of inner support emerge.
Daria Vergina, with a background in engineering and economics and a rich apprenticeship with a practicing artist, expresses herself primarily through acrylic paintings while embracing texture for added depth. Her technique is a meditative architecture of color and line—minimalistic abstraction infused with restraint, balance, and an architectural sense of space, often celebrating aesthetic imperfection. Her art resonates with a profound stillness and introspection, inspiring viewers to pause, breathe, and explore boundless inner horizons where healing and personal growth begin.
