About this artwork
The painting, titled "Oceanfront," appears to be an abstract depiction of a house by the sea, capturing the tranquility and color of nature. The bold, geometric shapes of the windows in red, green, and blue contrast with the moving texture of the sky and the facade.
It is a memory of a place where the sea and people exist in harmony. The blue waves of the sky above symbolize freedom and the vastness of the ocean, while the colorful windows tell… stories - of families coming together, of hope, and of life taking place in all its diversity and vibrancy. The texture of the facade is reminiscent of an old, weathered wall that stands the test of time, like memories that linger in us.
It is an ode to a place of refuge, to a place of longing, where heaven, earth and water become one.
David Söllner, a trained primary school teacher, expresses himself through painting and photography. By dealing with colours, materials and motifs, he creates a symbiosis between everyday experiences and the search for the extraordinary. His works are a kaleidoscope of positive colour compositions, darker moods or a dynamic mixture of both elements that reflect his mental journey and the crossing of his own boundaries. This creates an authentic world of feelings that vividly captures the fusion of imagination and reality.
