About this artwork
The title refers to a hedonistic Bohemian culture that arose in Tokyo in centuries past, and still exists in pockets today. This was a world I frequented when I lived in Japan, where I met many artists, actors, dancers, writers and singers. In this piece, I poured the vibrant chaos and glowing energy of a bustling city at night into the painting.
