This sculpture fuses rugged stone, delicate marble fragments, and a weathered wooden crate to evoke tension between nature and industry. I wanted to capture the raw energy of transformation—how something sturdy can feel surrounded, protected, or even trapped. The rough textures bring a tactile, earthy power, while the wooden box anchors the piece in time and memory. It brings a grounded yet dynamic essence to any space. The rugged stone is from… a river and features tunnels, burrows or borings made by small marine invertebrate animals such as bivalved molluscs, polychaete worms and even sponges.

Denis Yanashot is a sculptor with a strong foundation in art education, specializing in direct stone carving, mixed media assemblages, and reliefs integrating found and natural materials. His techniques range from traditional hand-carving and meticulous polishing of marble to the inventive use of scrap metal, bone, and river detritus, blending representational forms with abstraction and non-objectivity. Yanashot’s art channels the inspiration of nature and personal experience, evoking wonder, curiosity, and an appreciation for transformation, urging viewers to reflect on the boundaries between absurdity, reality, and the spiritual.
