This is a hand carved marble sculpture of a sarracenia or pitcher plant. This piece captures a flowing grace, blending organic curves with a hint of mystery. Carved in marble, it feels both solid and delicate, inviting contemplation. I wanted to evoke transformation and elegance, a quiet energy that breathes life into any space. Imagine it adding a serene, sophisticated aura to your home, sparking curiosity and calm with its smooth, whispering presence.…
This plant gets its nutrients from prey that fall into the pitcher form of the plant. The prey is then disintegrated and digested by enzymes in the fluid inside the plant. Sarracenia plants need the prey they consume because they usually are found growing in areas that are not rich enough in nutrients to sustain them.
Denis Yanashot is a sculptor with a strong foundation in art education, specializing in direct stone carving, mixed media assemblages, and reliefs integrating found and natural materials. His techniques range from traditional hand-carving and meticulous polishing of marble to the inventive use of scrap metal, bone, and river detritus, blending representational forms with abstraction and non-objectivity. Yanashot’s art channels the inspiration of nature and personal experience, evoking wonder, curiosity, and an appreciation for transformation, urging viewers to reflect on the boundaries between absurdity, reality, and the spiritual.
