El Camino is a network of pilgrimage routes in Europe that lead to the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, where the remains of Saint James the Apostle, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ, are believed to be buried.
In Bulgaria, there is a similar pilgrimage route called "The Holy Path". It follows the historical route along which the relics of Saint Ivan of Rila… were transferred from Veliko Tarnovo to the Rila Monastery in 1469. This artwork is inspired by El Camino as a spiritual process of inner transformation. El Camino is as a reflection of the Milky Way - the striving of the human soul to harmonize its earthly path with the cosmic order. True worship is a process of purification, a path of the "Self", on which a person, walking on foot and remaining alone with himself for a long time, frees his spirit from everyday material dependencies and could consciously overcome his inner fears and shadows.
