About this artwork
This artwork was created for an exhibition at an historic house in Castlemaine in Victoria, Australia. I collaged 1940s patterned and worn linoleum as the ground upon which my characters inhabit narratives of quiet resilience, and imaginative interior worlds.
I recovered the original lino from a derelict miner’s cottage on my house block in Trentham. I spent a lot of time cleaning the lino, and the colours and patterns are fabulous. It was a very… creative material to work with and I loved how the lino looked when it was extensively gilded with 24k gold leaf. I used Posca pigment pens and lasertran decals to create the central image.
