About this artwork
“The silence of the lights on” – underlines the contrast between the quiet of the city and the warm presence of the illuminated windows.
I wanted to represent a geometric and abstract vision of a city crossed by a river and dominated by bell towers and pointed roofs. I chose to fragment the space into fields of color delimited by sharp black outlines, reminiscent of stained glass windows or synthetic cubism. The color palette is intense and vibrant:… blues and light blues dominate the sky and water, contrasting with the oranges, reds, purples, and greens that envelop the houses, creating an interplay of warmth and coolness that gives rhythm to the composition.
The yellow-lit windows convey a sense of life and intimacy, almost suggesting that human presence lies hidden behind the geometric rigidity. The use of diagonals and polygons lends dynamism, as if the city were seen through a prism that multiplies its perspectives.
