About this artwork
The composition of a work could be compared to that of a flower bed in an English garden ... this is what often guides me when I start a work. The choice of colors put on the palette will result on the canvas in a harmonious mixture as is done by choosing the flowers that will be planted in the border. Following a few trips to the countries of the Orient, this work reminded me of the shapes of minarets as well as the incredibly magnificent patterns… in mosques. The pot with a pattern of white lace contrasts in its lightness with the completely abstract floral arrangement. A few starry shapes could almost make us think of the tales of a thousand and one nights ... This work has a protective varnish, the sides are painted black.
« Passionate and in love with the beauty of nature and eager to transmit through my art of happiness. »
Born in Chicoutimi, in the heart of the Saguenay region, Dominique Desmeules developed a passion for color and creation at a very young age. Trained in graphic design at UQAM, she first worked as a graphic designer before pursuing a career in the travel industry, where her numerous international trips enriched her visual world.
In the early 1990s, painting became the obvious choice. In 2007, she devoted herself entirely to her art and exhibited in several galleries in Canada. For over ten years, she participated in international art fairs (Europe, Asia, USA, South America, Australia), held two solo exhibitions in Seoul, and had six of her works acquired by a patron in Singapore.
Known for her contemporary floral works, she is now moving towards a luminous and textured abstract style, pursuing an approach where emotion, color and pictorial freedom meet.
