The Advisor refers to a figure from the administrative apparatus that governed Palestine in the time of Jesus. Neither a central player nor an outspoken opponent, he embodies this zone of neutrality where decisions are made without direct personal involvement.
In this acrylic on canvas, the face is treated as a place of restraint. The chromatic tensions and unstable contours convey a distant, attentive yet detached presence, marked by a functional… rather than spiritual authority.
The work is part of a project begun in 2019 focusing on biblical and para-biblical figures, observed from their margins. It questions the silent responsibility of those who govern while the event unfolds.

**Dominique Nugues** is a self-taught French artist whose work revolves around two main mediums: **digital printmaking (fine art giclée)** and **acrylic painting on canvas**.
