About this artwork

I used vibrant swirls of color and form to reflect a vision of connectivity within urban life. Bright blues, passionate reds, and lively yellows dance together, depicting energetic city centers that are safe and welcoming and harmonize well with nature. This painting celebrates the fusion of progress and environmental stewardship, aiming to inspire a brighter, greener future in every location it graces.

I lived in Tokyo for 5 years, and for two… of those years, I worked as an English rewriter for the anime/animation industry. I rewrote the English for a Studio Ghibli film, done by Hayao Miyazaki, before it got sold to Disney. In this project and hundreds of other projects, I had to study each anime/animation frame and make sure the translated dialogue sounded natural. Working so closely with such brilliant artists and their artwork, I think their influence sometimes comes out in my artwork today.

I am a bestselling polymath painter. My floral art is based on actual medical/scientific studies on health and happiness. In 2024, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine interviewed me for my “happy” art and my book, 100 Days Of Happy Happy Art, Evidence-Based Design. My art was also on the Jan/Feb 2025 cover of Healthcare Design Magazine.

By 2050, an estimated 70% of the world’s population will live in cities. My Smart City Art series promotes this planet-healing idea. I also worked in Tokyo as an English rewriter for the anime/animation industry, which included working on a Studio Ghibli film before it got sold to Disney. I believe this influence comes out in my Smart City Art abstracts. In 2026, I will be going to China for three months to paint beautiful Shanghai and sustainability.

I also love creating commissioned art. I love combining my art talent with a client's vision to create a new work of art. It's challenging but so much fun!
