About this artwork
Everything is arranged for our access. The forms are presented with frankness, the colors invite, and the plastic gesture opens like a half-open door. However, there is a gap between what is within reach and what we are able to understand or handle.
This work embodies that tension between possibility and limit: like a fruit at the edge of a tree that we fail to recognize as food. There is no mystery; there is a painful clarity that we know how to… translate. Cardboard, an everyday medium, becomes a mirror of our perceptual limitations, a reflection of that impulse to understand and intervene when we don't yet possess the language to do so. Sometimes, what is most clearly shown is what disconcerts us the most: what is close becomes unapproachable. This work belongs to the series "Echoes of Silence."
Eddy Miclin Rodríguez, a Cuban painter and draftsman trained at the San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts, employs mixed media on canvas and cardboard, drawing on extensive international experience. His style is intuitive, based on improvisation and deep Cuban roots, fusing diverse resources with everyday wisdom. With authentic and spontaneous gestures, his works explore ecology, the spiritual, and everyday life, inviting the viewer to introspection, internal dialogue, and the rediscovering of shared humanity through silences and subtle emotions.
