About this artwork
For several weeks, rescuers worked to free a stranded humpback whale that was lying on a sandbar in the Baltic Sea off the coast of Germany. It is now back in the wild. For the first time in history, a whale was transported by ship to the North Sea so that it could swim out into the Atlantic. It remains unclear whether the rescue will succeed, as the whale may be sick or injured. One thing is clear, however: This mission has drawn significant attention…
from the German and international public to marine conservation. There are plans to install a monument to the whale Timmy. From an artistic perspective, I have already created a lasting memorial to the whale with this small sculpture. The piece is being produced in a limited edition of three copies. If sold, the work will be numbered and signed.
