For me paintings have always been a metaphor for emotions. And I am always interested in how they make you feel.
As Mark Rothko said "A painting is not a picture of an experience, but is the experience."
I have started a new series of work, using soft natural colours and metallics, and strong lines. I have been considering the conflict of energy and… calm. They are direct big bold spaces, but there is also an undercurrent of emotional and kinetic energy, that creates delicacy and nuance.
I am so excited by this new painting. I love the bold white line that cuts through the composition. And I love the soft neutral grey tones that create a soft undercurrent of energy. I also love the cheeky kick of lilac.
