This work is part of the Bloom in the Gaze series — a body of semi-abstract floral compositions inspired by the observer effect and the idea that reality is shaped through perception.
Created with alcohol inks on paper, the flower appears suspended between emergence and dissolution, as if forming in the very moment it is being observed.
Soft translucent layers, luminous orange tones, and scattered pigment traces create a sense of movement and fragility,… balancing spontaneity with quiet spatial depth. The composition evokes both a botanical form and an atmospheric field, inviting the viewer into a personal and shifting interpretation of the image.
Elena Gozunova is an emerging artist living and working in Latvia. Elena’s journey into contemporary art began in 2021, coming from an engineering background. During the pandemic, she discovered inspiration and a renewed sense of purpose through painting. From 2021 to 2024, Elena completed several online courses in textured painting taught by Kristina Brilkova, as well as a series of ink art classes by Diana Gorbach. She also studied oil painting under local artist Natalja Matveeva in Liepaja, Latvia, and participated in masterclasses led by Swiss painter Maks Skoblinsky in Italy. Elena has explored various techniques, taken part in group exhibitions, and gradually developed her own signature style using alcohol inks. Her work continues the tradition of impressionism while living in metamodernism, inviting the viewer to become a co-creator. Elena’s artworks are held in private collections in Latvia, Russia, France, Switzerland, Netherlands, Sweden, Israel, USA, Canada.
