About this artwork
In this painting, I sought to capture hysterical laughter, reflecting my astonishment at world events. Laughter serves as a coping mechanism, yet it can also expose deeper emotions and inner conflict. My goal was to create a lively piece bursting with vibrant colors that convey both surprise and humor. The canvas is an electrifying blend of reds, brilliant yellows, and lively blues, each competing for attention. Swirling patterns and unexpected shapes… evoke a sense of motion, as if the painting itself is laughing.Amidst the chaos, red birds glide through a vibrant blue sky, emanating from a person's mind. Meanwhile, a large, sunflower-like eye and an open mouth appear, conveying surprise and amusement. A red bow tie adds whimsy to the scene. The playful brushstrokes and stark contrasts reflect my intent to capture a moment where shock and humor intertwine, leaving the viewer both startled and delighted.
Elena Kochetkova, initially an architect, now primarily employs oil as the medium for painting. She adopts a fluid, mysterious approach to techniques, concocting new methods as her narratives demand. Her artworks embody a palpable necessity for self-expression, stimulated by an array of personal experiences and worldwide influences.
