About this artwork
Between the lines
"The painting is characterized by a rigorous composition based on a clear contrast between three dominant colors: black, vivid red and white. The structure of the work develops through a system of horizontal bands and parallel vertical lines that create a visual grid. The central white band with red inserts forms the fulcrum of the composition, acting as an element of disruption with respect to the large black areas that dominate… the upper and lower part of the painting.
The thin black vertical lines that cross the entire surface create a visual rhythm and suggest a spatial depth, almost as if they were threads stretched over a pictorial background. This technique refers to an aesthetic that recalls both textiles and minimalist language, elements that seem to characterize Borgognoni's artistic research."
Elisabetta Borgognoni, self-taught, experiments boldly with color and geometry in her paintings. She uses distinctive styles and techniques: boldly bichromatic or trichromatic combinations and subtle geometries to engage the audience in a visual immersion. Her works, full of contemporary informal sensibility, emanate powerful and complex emotions, challenge conventions and invite exploration between form, color and the emotional connection with matter.
