About this artwork
Washed Dreams 08 is an abstract painting featuring a tranquil coalescence of blues, gold, pink, red, brown, green and white. This painting takes inspiration from the ocean: light bouncing across the rippling surface; marine debris - flotsam and jetsam lurking beneath the sufrace and breaking through. The use of intereference paint alows the painting to `come alive`in the light, when the light source illuminates the background blue and gold they…
glow and shine with intensity - mirroring how the sunlight dances across the rippling of the tide. The composition is busy yet rythmic. New colours break out from the composition and splash down the canvas echoing the movement of the ocean. The colours are both reminiscent of the ocean and also challenging: blues, greens, white and gold of the light recall a serene sea scape but the inclusion of brown, pink, red break away from the ocean and cause one to ponder what one can see. The forms are organic, is it marine debris or ethereal algae?

« My paintings explore the space where paintings live: incongruity is used as a lens to navigate presentations of multiples to reach a cohesive point to allow for emotional investment. »
