About this artwork
"The secrets of the ocean" is an abstract painting that explores the mystery of the ocean through fluid forms and deep hues. Layers of blue, yellow, red, turquoise and dark green merge with hints of cobalt, reminiscent of hidden currents and flashes of light underwater. The movement of the brushstrokes creates a sense of both calm and unpredictability – as if the painting itself hides secrets in its depths. The work invites the viewer to dream into… the enigmatic interior of the ocean.
Ellen Eikenes is a Norwegian painter and printmaker with a strong background in visual arts and education, crafting her vibrant works since 1998. She fuses figurative elements with abstract patterns, often beginning with intuitive gestures and evolving into sophisticated compositions where organic and structured forms elegantly entwine. Her paintings evoke an atmospheric openness, inviting viewers into a dialogue, encouraging personal reflection and interpretation, and ultimately making the invisible, visible through emotive layers of color and form.
