About this artwork
This artwork was the beginning of my exploration of drawing pathways from memory. The pathway depicts a hike down a mountain in Switzerland during 2024. I started with a deep under layer of dark blue acrylic, then I began marking out the pathway and different sections of the walk with oil sticks. From this I built up layers, drawing together the movement, colours and textures from memory to form an abstracted and condensed map of the walk. When creating…
the title I thought about how the journey felt physically, to accompany the memory of the geography, and highlight the movement into psychogeography in my work.
