About this artwork
Ink on black paper, a demanding medium that reveals light in a unique way. A portrait of a man who comes to life in a tension between strength and vulnerability.
Blue and orange clash and echo each other, highlighting the masculine fragility hidden beneath his appearance. An intense, almost translucent gaze against a dark background. Losing oneself in order to better find oneself.
Emeline Renard, born in 1978 in Paris, is a self-taught painter and visual artist, influenced by her commitment to marginalized and LGBTQ+ communities. She uses a variety of techniques, expressing herself primarily through acrylic paint, ink, charcoal, embroidery, and pastel, combining figurative and surrealism. Her works, imbued with a feminist and queer reinterpretation of traditional art, are an ode to fragility and resistance. Through her art, she values what society erases, with a keen sensitivity for the most vulnerable.
