About this artwork
I like walking when it snows or shortly after it snows. There must not be knee-deep snow :-). The step is slow, the snow still clings to the tree branches, neither the wind nor the sun had time to throw it off. At the right angle, everything sparkles and nature will enchant you with its purity and beauty. The light plays a major role here - it directly forces you to look around, and the reflected light enlivens the otherwise dark shadows, whether… on snow or on tree trunks. It has a very relaxing effect on me.
Oil painting on canvas, unframed
« I see myself as a painter rather than an artist in a strong sense, but, far from this play of words, I'm just trying to paint nature for the joy of it. »
Emil Mlynárčik is a Slovakian painter whose art has been featured in several solo exhibitions in Poland and Slovakia, as well as in Portugal. Having grown up in a small mountainous village, he was surrounded by folk art, song, dance and crafts. For over 30 years Mlynárčik has dedicated himself to mastering realistic depictions of nature and rural motifs. He works on linen canvases and exclusively uses oils because they dry slower, allowing him to focus on detail.
