About this artwork
Autumn offers the perceptive observer a number of interesting motifs. This is partly due to the varied palette of colors that nature revels in, but also due to the lighting conditions, which are mainly conditioned by the low cost of the sun above the horizon. This work does not abound in such a varied palette of colors, most of the leaves of the old maple have already fallen, but due to the light from the opposite direction and the higher humidity…
of the air above the water surface, the background has acquired a bluish tinge. It made the tree trunk and the grassy bank in the foreground stand out nicely, thus giving the work the necessary depth. The motif with reflections on a calm surface has a calming and relaxing effect.

Emil Mlynárčik is a Slovakian painter whose art has been featured in several solo exhibitions in Poland and Slovakia, as well as in Portugal. Having grown up in a small mountainous village, he was surrounded by folk art, song, dance and crafts. For over 30 years Mlynárčik has dedicated himself to mastering realistic depictions of nature and rural motifs. He works on linen canvases and exclusively uses oils because they dry slower, allowing him to focus on detail.
