When discomfort becomes politeness. When we smile because we have no other choice.
The face here is not a character: it is a state. A consciousness caught between embarrassment and collapse.
The chains cross the stage like a collective judgment:
repeated words, gazes that imprison, a story turned against the one telling it.
This painting… bears witness to invisible humiliation: having to explain one's pain, no longer being believed, seeing friends disappear,
and to understand that doubt can destroy as much as a blow.
The viewer must not be at ease. They must feel this nervous laughter. This discomfort. This unease.
Because that's where the truth begins.
