About this artwork
In this work, I created an emotional tension with oil paint that oscillates between surrealism and abstract form. The dark, almost mysterious gray contrasts with the vibrant red and the white areas, which appear like glimpses of light. I wanted to capture the duality of human emotions—the struggle between shadow and hope. This painting brings a powerful, contemplative atmosphere to any room.
Erdogan Bulut works as a painter, filmmaker, and professor, utilizing a wide range of media, including oil, acrylic, pastel, photography, sculpture, printmaking, and digital techniques. His style is based on realistic elements, which he transforms into an abstract surrealism. Deliberate alterations of form and experimental techniques make his works fresh and vibrant. His art reflects current events in dialogue with the past and future, conveying moving emotions ranging from love and war to laughter and tears—a kaleidoscope of human experience. Discovered by the art market immediately after completing his five years of study, Erdogan Bulut's work has been exhibited in various galleries (with catalogs), museums, art associations, and art fairs, including in Miami, USA. His feature films, "Playground" (2013-14), "Letter to Goya," and "Us Still Exist," have garnered awards at numerous prestigious film festivals worldwide and have been the subject of interviews.
