About this artwork
Maurice Ravel's Boléro, created in 1928, is among the most popular and most performed orchestral works in the world. A musical phenomenon, it is a dance movement with an invariable rhythm and tempo, with a uniform and repetitive melody. Directly inspired by this music, I chose a composition full of cadence where the sailboats of my region repeat themselves on different planes giving the impression of movement. The expressionism of fiery and contrasting… colors combines with simplified graphics to evoke an imaginary regatta. The striking contrasts between the sea and the flamboyant oranges of the boats illuminate this semi-abstract creation. I wanted to evoke the energy of the sea, the breath of the wind and the passion for sailing. This extraordinary piece, through its passion and audacity, embodies freedom.
« The colors are the living notes, of the harmonious and generous melody that the artist offers to our eyes and to our souls. »
A professional artist since 1995, Eric Winzenried lives in western France. Passionate about landscapes, both real and imagined, he has made them the heart of his creative work. Over time, his ongoing exploration of color and synthesis has naturally led him to contemporary landscape painting, while maintaining a high standard of quality in his work. His series are resolutely abstract, where contemplation and aesthetics take center stage. For him, landscape is much more than a subject: it is a space of freedom and emotion where color becomes a language. Convinced of the influence of color on the body and mind, he patiently crafts sincere works imbued with harmony, offering a unique visual and emotional experience.
