About this artwork
In this work, I captured the pure power of the angel, symbolizing protection and clarity. The pearlescent accents and organic materials give it life and depth, as if it were born of light and nature itself. I applied the angel to the sanded canvas with a spatula and embedded and solidified it with acrylic paint. To represent the earth, I dipped small natural stones, glass stones, wooden stars, and wooden frost flowers in paint and incorporated them… into the image. It symbolizes the power of the earth. In the heart, I incorporated a wooden frost flower, into which I also placed round glass stones. It represents the winter season. I cut the crown above the head from tissue paper, sprayed it with acrylic paint, and sealed it with varnish. The bird-shaped crown represents freedom. The image radiates a calm, healing, and clear energy for the spaces of our day.
Erika Margarete Jansen works as a painter and fashion designer, combining painting and sewing as a creative form of expression since childhood. Her multifaceted compositions emerge intuitively through the use of her hands, palette knives, sponges, paint rollers, and various natural materials such as quartz sand, gemstones, and sewn paper. Her works convey a profound harmony and joy, inspired by the beauty and sound of nature, which she brings to life visually and emotionally.
