Erró is an Islandic painter borin in 1932 especially recognized for his pop art paintings inspired by comics. After his arts studies in Norway and Italy, he settled in France in 1958 where he met the main figures of the Surrealist movement like André Breton. In the meantime, he co-fouded the artistic movement "Figuration Narrative" with artists like Peter Klasen and Hervé Télémaque. The Figuration Narrative is a movement that advocates a return to figuration as opposed to abstraction which was very popular in the 1960s. The movement is intimately linked to the social and political revolution of May 1968. If the aesthetic is close to the one of Pop Art, the artists of Figuration Narrative are politically opposed to the American movement, which they considered too hegemonic, too formal and indifferent to the political struggles of the time.
