About this artwork
With this work, I wanted to explore feelings of proximity and separation. The intense acrylic colors create a vibrant, almost pulsating atmosphere, while the pastel lines add a sense of fragility and movement. The interplay of oil pastels and colored pencils brings depth and structure, inviting the viewer to discover the unspoken between the forms.
Evelyn Marschall-Gebhard works with acrylics, mixed media and collage, and brings a rich background in artistic and psychological studies. Their approach is dialogical; the image develops in the process and influences their decisions. Intuition is not a coincidence, but a conscious part of the process of creation. The strange, the unexpected, and the bizarre are allowed – they open up space for movement and encounters. Her work emerges from a space between control and letting go, inviting viewers to engage in this process. In her works, she explores the tension between systems of order and experiential spaces. Autonomous elements float in space, occasionally connected by lines, grids, or fragmented numerical and written symbols, thus opening up new experiential spaces for both the elements and the viewers. Color, movement and playful arrangements combine rigor and systematicity with imagination and poetic lightness.
