About this artwork
“Decay of Memory” is a series of paintings based on private photographs, memories, and their distortions. I am interested in the tension between intimacy and unease — the moment when a familiar image begins to shift, blur, and transform into something unfamiliar.
Recurring motifs of children, animals, and landscape function as fragments of emotional memory: unstable, incomplete, and constantly changing their form. A restrained, cold palette and… fragmented painterly surface create an atmosphere of images retrieved from memory — suspended between tenderness, loss, and the gradual transformation of representation. Memory is treated not as something that disappears, but as something that continuously changes shape.”

Ewa Wróbel-Hultqvist is a painter trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, with additional studies at the Ecole Nationale Superieure Des Beaux Arts de Dijon. In my work, I concentrate on capturing emotions, beauty, and the relationships I paint what becomes close and meaningful to me — what moves me and makes me pause. I delve into these subjects and celebrate them, paying tribute to places, individuals, and phenomena.
