About this artwork
This work is born from a search for essence. In the Icons series, the figure of Diana Ross in the 1960s is reduced to a few, almost restrained, lines. White constructs and erases, while black defines a strong yet delicate presence. If you look closely, you can hear the sound of her voice. From that presence, my work begins: I transform the image into black and white, eliminate all details, vectorize the photo, search for the balance between recognizability and abstraction, and when I find it, I begin to paint the canvas initially with only dark brown, then white, which for me is ivory.
