About this artwork
The spectacular rock-hewn Temple of the Great Pharaoh RAMSES II. Here I wanted to depict it from a photo from the 1800s when it was still partially covered by the centuries-old desert sands.
In addition to the beauty and charm that it inspires in me, I was also struck by its history, in 1964 it was practically cut into pieces and rebuilt on a plateau to save it from the waters of the Nile after the construction
of the Aswan Dam which would otherwise… have submerged it forever.
