About this artwork
This large-scale work was born from an instinctive, almost visceral impulse, in reaction to the human and urban tragedy that the city of Aleppo represents.
The vertical and powerful drips of paint recall tears, ruins, and the disfigured walls of a devastated city, while retaining a form of chromatic vitality that resists annihilation.
Each trace, each color, each burst seems to embody a voice, a cry, a breath still standing despite the violence.…
The blackness of the background acts as a silent mourning, a backdrop of chaos from which nevertheless emerges a voluntary light, that of art facing collapse.
“Aleppo” is not a painting that explains. It is a painting that bears witness.
And in this abstract, raw and vibrant testimony, it is humanity that throbs.
