About this artwork
New large-scale work dedicated to the sculpture The Three Graces by Antonio Canova. Classical Western sculpture joins the art of Japanese comics and manga characters. The legendary Sonic is associated with Joy, because it is a short, fast emotion, which arrives like lightning and you have to seize it on the fly. The lively and colorful Pikachu of Pokemon is associated with splendor (shine) also understood as Prosperity (one of the three Graces).… The colors are bright and intense, with fluorescent shades. In my artistic work, I have fused elements of pop culture with classical art to create a lively dialogue between past and present. Using oil and spray, I transformed a neoclassical sculpture into an explosion of bright colors and comic book characters, such as Sonic and Pikachu, symbolizing energy and pure joy. This painting is a hymn to happiness and unity, inviting every observer to get involved in its vibrant positive energy. A true hymn to joy.
Fabrizio Ceccarelli, an artist of the Italian pop neo-figurativism, expresses himself through a mix of techniques that include acrylic, oil, spray and airbrush. His style is a successful fusion between the aesthetics of pop art and the dynamism and irony of street art, creating bright, fluorescent, and vibrant contemporary works, where each figure is drawn and painted by hand without the use of printing or digital techniques. He mixes elements of cinema, fashion, and comics to explore themes such as power, love, ecology, and violence. He gives his works a penetrating irony, revealing hidden meanings behind the mirror of a pleasant aesthetic.
