About this artwork
In this work, I used vibrant oil paints to capture a vibrant energy that reflects the pulse of the pop world. "Disco Boy" is a homage to the connection between music, movement, and emotion—abstract and symbolic at the same time. It brings freshness and excitement to the home. A vibrant piece of the zeitgeist that evokes emotions.
Falk Richwien uses painting, object art, photography, videos, and digital installations, inspired by his eventful Berlin past and deep psychological reflection. Using palette knife and squeegee techniques, he creates analog, richly colored oil paintings and experiments with symbolic, large-format works and participatory art films. Stylistically, he approaches the digital age provocatively, pared down to modern symbols and intense color design. His works invite debate, open up spaces for the viewer to play between the individual and society, and create an emotional tension between distance, irritation, and awareness. In 2006, Falk Richwien triggered a scandal with an art action that redefined the position of art, both socially and legally.
