About this artwork
In What Happened, Federico Pisciotta captures the magnetic allure of a visual "accident." In this oil on canvas, the perfection of a classical still life is interrupted by an overturned wine glass: a vibrant stain that, along with the sliced apple, evokes a suspended narrative charged with mystery. The technical virtuosity of the reflections in the glass and the textured brushstrokes collide with the "Play" icon, suggesting the scene is a digital… still frozen in time. A work of extraordinary impact, capable of seducing collectors worldwide for its ability to transform a moment of interrupted stillness into a post-digital icon ready to be reactivated by the gaze of its owner.
Federico Pisciotta (Rome, 1975) is a contemporary Italian artist who investigates the relationship between painting, technology, and visual identity in the digital age. Trained at the school of Righetto, Vespaziani and Ascolese, he graduated from the VI Liceo Artistico in Rome in 1993 and in Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome in 1997, with Nunzio Solendo and Sandro Trotti. Throughout his career he has exhibited in Italy, Europe and the United States, collaborating with galleries such as Forum Interart, Simmi, Farini Concept, ArtNation Wynwood, Artisan Direct Ltd, Art Platform NYC, Nozzoli, On Art and Coral's. His works are present at international fairs and in institutional venues in Rome, Milan, Venice, New York, Miami, Munich, London, Barcelona, Bilbao and Warsaw. Having won numerous awards in Italy and abroad, Pisciotta continues his exploration of the aesthetics of hyperreality, restoring to the language of painting the ability to question our digital condition. Lives and works between Rome and Fara in Sabina.
