About my work:
My latest series of works crystallise random elemental gestures, which offer a powerful metaphor for the cycle of life that has further inspired me to expand my explorations to include my belief of one universal energy flowing through everything in my work.… Though abstract in appearance, the work has a strong organic presence.
My canvases with their innumerable nuances allow me to speak about time, space, energy, movement. And thus, about life. Drawing inspiration from the natural world, my work swirls like painterly voyages of the consciousness and draws attention to the beauty, fragility and vulnerability of our environment.

« My abstract pieces form their own universe. »
Fintan Whelan is an Irish painter based in Germany, whose works have been exhibited throughout Ireland, the UK and Germany. Intrigued by the challenges of creating art, he seeks to capture resonances between the dynamic details of light and texture, and composes abstract pieces that evoke a plethora of varied emotional responses. Whelan harnesses the visual imagery of his memory to form the essence of his canvases, and undertakes a closely engaged technical process in which constant examination, measurement and reconfiguration push each work forward.
