- Element number 04 of the quadriptych '107 - ORBIS MENTIS'
This sculpture is based on the 'Bubble City' concept that I created 15 years ago.
The "Bubble Cities" question the place of humans in the cities they have created. These evolving spaces adopt forms reminiscent of living organisms: cells, energy flows, transforming the city into a veritable ecosystem. Distorted perspectives reinforce the impression of a single-celled organism. A protective… cocoon inviting introspection, the city can also become a trap that confines and stifles freedoms.
I wanted to capture the vibrant soul of a megacity, with its soaring structures and dynamic energy. Hung on your wall, it will bring light and movement, evoking both modernity and timeless elegance, a true ode to perpetually awakening city life.
Frédéric Daty, a French-Canadian sculptor born in Lyon, creates wall-mounted works primarily in steel, drawing on his background in graphic arts and his experience in art direction. Through cutting, welding, and patination, he develops a unique style that blends minimalism, op art, and industrial romanticism, where light constantly transforms the perception of the material. He seeks to capture the ambivalence of urban environments, offering, within the simplicity of metal, a sensory experience that invites contemplation of the invisible forces that structure our contemporary world.
