About this artwork
This inspiration came to me from the depths of my heart. The image represented is a combination of religious ecstasy and universal love. The sacred is suggested by the unmistakable image of the Madonna embracing a cat, a lovable, beloved and earthly creature (like all of us).
Every life is a divine gift. I mean by divine something transcendent, high, ecstatic. Mine is not a merely religious connotation, it is not attributable to ecclesiastical environments,… quite the opposite.
The embrace of the Madonna, a mystical figure immediately relatable to hieratic ecstasy, connects well (in my opinion) with the soft tactility of the cat that expresses its love in an infinite profusion of purrs.
The divine embracing the earthly, both worthy, decrees pure and total love.
The features of the painting are deliberately gestural, hinted. I do not want to dwell on the details, the brush strokes must only suggest the forms thus perceived and understood.
