About this artwork
A commissioned painting for a beautiful living room. I was working at this botanical subject, inspired by the Dracena Draco tree. I liked the movement of its branches and I directly put these lines in this large painting. Its name means dragon in ancient greek, its umbrella shape is a characteristic of this vulnerable sub-tropical species, at risk of extinction currently. I studied it during en plain air session of drawing.
Francesca Tesoriere, a Sicilian artist with a background in architecture and illustration, primarily uses acrylics on canvas and mixed media on various media. Her semi-abstract botanical paintings are inspired by the plant world and combine landscape and abstraction, transforming branches and plants into living maps of memory and energy. Her works evoke a deep emotional connection with nature, conveying a sense of wonder and reflection on our relationship with the natural environment.
