About this artwork
In crafting this piece, I harnessed the vibrant yet serene spirit of coastal tranquility, embodying the essence of a soothing summer's day. The juxtaposition of the dynamic waves against the steadfast lifeguard tower, under the watchful gaze of the fluttering flag, captures a moment of patriotic peace. It's painted to evoke the warmth of the sun and the gentle breeze, beckoning viewers to immerse in this slice of haven, a timeless embrace for any… home.
« I follow the words of great British artist Trevor Chamberlain, who said, 'Don't paint what you see...paint what you WANT to see!' »
Francis Azzopardi, a painter who resides in the United States, has exhibited his works nationally. The artist, who follows in the footsteps of the impressionist masters, began his artistic journey by creating with watercolors in plein air. Azzopardi has since moved to oils, and now has a preference for the medium as it requires less planning and is more flexible, 'like jazz'.
