About this artwork
Indian ink on paper using a pigeon quill. This great cormorant deserves the Medal of Resistance because it is the only survivor of the Torrey Canyon, the Amoco Cadiz, the Ixtoc One when it was peacefully flying over Mexico. Then when bad luck sets in, it never leaves you. It continued with the MT Haven then it got stuck in heavy fuel oil with the Erika off the coast of Brittany. Before all these misfortunes, it was magnificent when it rode the descending…
currents to catch a small, wriggling fish, certainly not as good as an osprey, but the in-flight meal had panache. It's over. The fuel oil falling from its wings is the last hourglass of the time it has left to live. One last look at this sky that made it love freedom so much and it goes to bed.
