At the heart of this inverted well of Babel, the concrete rises in concentric circles toward an eye of light, as if the builders had wanted to pierce the sky with a vertical tunnel. The perfect geometry of these rings evokes some forgotten Mayan temple, but it is here that steam, and not prayers, rose toward the clouds. Time has patinated the walls of this industrial cathedral where the echo of dead turbines still resonates. Only the sky, a fragment… of perfect blue, continues to inhabit this place where man played at taming the elements.
Author photographer, passionate about heritage, architecture and urban landscape, he travels the world in his spare time, in search of abandoned places, sanctuaries on which time has stood still. He brings back striking images, time capsules testifying to a parallel universe conducive to the escape of the mind and to questioning... Exhibited and awarded internationally, he is the author of 4 art books on the theme of the poetics of ruins.
A major in Design and Communication from the École Nationale Supérieure d'Arts de Nancy in 1986, Francis Meslet has been a Creative Director in communications for 38 years.
As an extension of this approach, he also experiments with generative art to evoke imaginary worlds, in a near future hit hard by the advent of everything digital and by climatic and geopolitical upheavals.
