About this artwork
Art is a question of emotions. Either you like it or you don't like it. We react depending on what experiences we have with what we perceive. Objectivity signals to us at first, based on our experience, whether something is positive or negative. Objectivity offers guard rails so that we can safely fall back on our experience. Abstract asks questions. What is that supposed to mean? With the MONOCHROM cycle, the artist releases the viewer into his… own emotional world. In addition, objects such as brushes, records or everyday objects are sometimes built into the canvas. This opens up MONOCHROME again and asks new questions.
« My work on canvas should arouse feelings in the viewer. Then my work has achieved its goal. »
Friedhelm Wolfrat is an experienced artist based in Germany whose paintings have been shown in international solo and group exhibitions. For him, emotions are at the heart of his artistic practice. In fact, Wolfrat allows his emotions to dictate the direction of each composition. His diverse works are mostly created with acrylic/quartz on canvas.
