About this artwork
In this work, I wanted to convey a sense of loss and disconnection, using intense materials like oil and enamel to create a dense atmosphere. The crossed out words and visual signs suggest a silent cry of absence and emotional emptiness. It will bring an intense and reflective charge to your home, an invitation to look beyond the visible. I interpret the reality of when, immersed in the splendor of nature, we get lost, looking at our phones and despairing… when the words "NO SIGNAL" appear.
Using stucco previously applied to canvases, which I then tore and glued together, creating reliefs and cracks. I made the pictorial creation contemporary by inserting interwoven string and bark into the lower part of the painting, thus infusing a natural and real element into the fictional nature of the painting.
« I prefer to be a good craftsman than a mediocre artist. »
Fulvio Dot is an experienced painter and draftsman based in Italy whose work has been exhibited nationally, as well as in China, France, Canada and Spain. He describes his compositions as historical places “contaminated” with contemporary symbols and content. Dot’s striking, textural and almost three-dimensional pieces are created primarily with acrylics, oils and collage on canvas.
